The Galpin Premier Collection is truly proud to be able to offer this exceptional E39 M5 for sale today with just under 80,000 original miles since New.Introduced in 1998 at the Geneva Motor Show, the E39 generation was the first M5 to use a V8 engine, (S62 4,9L) resulting in an increase in power output to 395hp at 6,600rpm and 369lb/ft of torque. The S62 engine has electronically actuated individual throttle bodies, an aluminum block and heads, variable valve timing (double-VANOS), and a semi-dry sump oil system. Paired to the engine is a Getrag 420G six-speed manual and limited slip differential.The E39 was also the first M5 to use aluminum front suspension components and a multi-link rear suspension. Production began in October 1998 and continued through to the end of 2003 model year production.Production of the E39 generation amounted to a global total of 20,482 units. For the first time, the M5 was produced on the same assembly line as the regular 5 Series models at the Dingolfing factory in Germany.The official performance figures are a 060 mph acceleration time of 4.8 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. In testing, an unrestricted M5 reached a top speed in excess of 186 mph and recorded a Nurburgring lap time of just 8 minutes and 20 seconds.This example was produced at the Digolfing facility in late-April 2000 and supplied to its first owner in Pennsylvania in July 2000. In total, this excellent example has been cared for by a total of four owners and has spent the past thirteen years residing in California.
