At its heart is a 4.5-liter naturally aspirated V8, mounted in a mid-rear configuration and producing 562 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 398 lb/ft of torque at 6,000 rpm. With a soaring 9,000-rpm redline, the engine delivers the immediate throttle response and unmistakable high-revving character for which the 458 has become renowned.Power is delivered exclusively to the rear wheels through Ferraris 7-speed F1 dual-clutch transmission, providing exceptionally rapid gear changes while retaining the involvement of steering-column-mounted paddle shifters. The combination allows the 458 Italia to accelerate from 062 mph in under 3.4 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 202 mph. Perhaps most significant is the way the 458 Italia delivers its performance. Rather than relying on turbocharging, its naturally aspirated V8 builds power progressively toward its 9,000-rpm peak. Its performance extends well beyond straight-line speed. Developed using Ferraris extensive Formula One experience, the 458 incorporates an advanced E-Diff electronic differential, F1-Trac traction-control system, sophisticated magnetorheological suspension and a driver-selectable Manettino mounted on the steering wheel.
